Ten Sleep, Wyoming

Leaving Worland, the landscape on either side of Wyoming Highway 16 East is arid, high desert, yellow, beige and ruddy rose colors filling the void between a great blue sky; oil fields and wells popping up every few miles are the only other remnants of man's touch. The highway is a straight shot, about 25 miles until the small yet stunning town of Ten Sleep. Ten Sleep is within the plateau region of the Bighorn Basin, it is surrounded by the Absaroka Range on the west, the Bighorn Mountains on the east, and the Owl Creek Mountains and Bridger Mountains on the south. As highway 16 makes a rising slope, the Basin is exposed, and the view abounds.
